SPORTS AND CITIZENSHIP

UNOPAR is today a national center of reference in rhythmic gymnastics and also an international pole for the whole American continent.
The Project for formation of gymnasts counts with the active participation of more than five hundred gymnasts a year.
The School for Rhythmic Gymnastics at UNOPAR was opened in 1972 (nineteen seventy two) thanks to the idea of Professor ELISABETH BUENO LAFFRANCHI, who is today the President of UNOPAR and Vice - president of the International Federation of Gymnastics.
The athletes from UNOPAR are members of the Brazilian Rhythmic Team, bi - champion in Pan America, gold medal in WINNIPEG, CANADÁ, in 1999 (nineteen ninety nine) and in Santo Domingo Pan American games in 2003 (two thousand and three).

Unopar also works with children from the community through its soccer school - an important program for children to stimulate aptitude and to find talents in the neighborhoods.

The socialization of Down Syndrome patients is one more of the action of sport and citizenship at UNOPAR, helping children and adults to conquer a better life through the practice of Karate.

Several teaching programs and maturity are part of the sports activities UNOPAR provides for the elderly.

The infrastructure is what makes the difference at UNOPAR in it search for quality in education and demands from the labor market.

Another great mark in the infrastructure of Unopar is the experimental farm where agriculture, ecology, cattle raising, biotechnology and genetic research make the farm of UNOPAR, a true scientific laboratory.
Biotechnology integrates the experimental farm to the most revolutionary technique for the multiplication and genetic improvement of plants.
In the biofactory, plants totally free from diseases are produced, by using the tissue culture technology for the self-sustainable development of agriculture.
In the ecological reserve of the Unopar farm, a center for selection and evaluation keeps birds and wild animals in a joint work with the National Institute for Environment Protection - IBAMA, the Forestry Guard and the Paraná Environmental Institute.
The Hotel - Milk Plant, Dairy Factory, Fishery Plant and the whole infrastructure for rural tourism make the Unopar Experimental farm a true laboratory amongst nature.
Another great mark of UNOPAR infrastructure is the Veterinarian Hospital. Located on the Arapongas campus, it counts with one of the largest surgery centers of the region and just like the other supporting divisions in the faculty centers, it is part of the Units for teaching , research and community services at UNOPAR, expanding the horizons of education, putting together the University, the Community and the Labor market.
The research work in the field of animal immune genetics is also a breakthrough in the Institution.
UNOPAR is the first university in the State to have a laboratory for blood typing and animal immune genetics certified by the Ministry of Agriculture.

TECNOLOGY, COMUNICATION AND EDUCATION

The Polytechnic Center of UNOPAR counts with most modern equipment, a central for Energy with the capacity to provide electricity for one fourth of the City of Londrina.
The Central for energy is able to continuously supply energy to generate the transmission of the lectures to more than 200 class rooms in the whole country.
It also counts with high technology laboratories of telecommunications and informatics, radio and television, and all infrastructure and support for the development of projects aimed at the on- line environment and interactive and virtual education. It is also in the Polytechnic Center that you can find the UNOPAR Broadcasting TV - TV MIX, the cable TV of the UNIVERSIDADE NORTE DO PARANÁ.
TV MIX UNOPAR is the broadcasting company of the Educative Broadcasting TV from Rio de Janeiro and produces local programs with the purpose to provide for a larger integration between teaching, education, culture and information.

With a privileged collection and in constant updating, the libraries of UNOPAR are connected to the Internet and the National and International Library network.
All the units have programs for on-line research, and multimedia rooms.
The Center for Informatics counts with qualified professionals and most modern technology to meet the needs of all the undergraduate and graduate programs.
The advanced research in the aero-spatial sector has its own mark.
UNOPAR is also the first Brazilian university to build a satellite, stimulating the aero-spatial scientific research work.
The Center for Business Sciences holds the programs in the areas of business and law.
The Nucleus for Law Practice - a supporting division for the Course of Law. The offices for managing business, and marketing and business consulting office render services to the community by means of several community services programs and, at the same time, operate as teaching practice laboratories in the qualification of students for the labor market.
